Settlement

EA Law’s highly experienced settlement lawyers have helped many individuals secure UK settlement through many different Immigration routes. What is Indefinite Leave to Remain?
Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) or ‘settlement’ gives you the right to live, work and study in the UK without any time restrictions. It can also be part of a step in applying for British Citizenship.
Working in the UK
You can be granted settlement if you are under one or more of the working categories and have lived in the UK for the past 5 years. You may be able to benefit from an accelerated route to settlement of 2 or 3 years living in the UK if you are on a Global Talent visa.
Business in the UK

If you are part of the following categories, you may be able to benefit from an accelerated route to settlement of 2 or 3 years living in the UK, provided you meet certain requirement.

  • Tier 1 Entrepreneur, Investor and Sole Representatives (these routes are now closed but settlement applications still open)
  • Innovator Visa
Long residence
You may be eligible for settlement if you have been living in the UK for 10 years or more. You would need to be able to show evidence of your lawful and continuous residence in the UK for 10 years along with meeting other mandatory requirements.
Family member
One of the most common ways of applying for settlement is if you have a partner, parent, child or other relative settled in the UK. You may be eligible to apply once you have completed the initial 5 (or 10) year period. You will also need to satisfy the Indefinite Leave to Remain application requirements.
Other ways

You may also be able to apply for settlement through the following categories

  • UK ancestry, Refugee or Humanitarian Protection, Discretionary Leave, Private Life- Appendix FM, Returning to the UK (having previously had Indefinite Leave to Remain), Served in the Armed Forces.
Priority Service
If you are time restricted, EA Law Solicitors provide a one day service to speed the process of your application submission. Moreover, EA Law are registered with the Home Office, UK Visas and Immigration and its commercial partners; UKVCAS Sopra Steria, to provide a super priority service for your application, subject to availability. Where your application decision could take up to 6 months, super priority service escalates your application decision to reach you within the next working day of your biometric appointment.

When you first contact us we will obtain preliminary information from you and provide a complimentary free assessment. We will identify the work we can undertake, the best lawyer and team for your case, and provide a fixed fee quote. We will then arrange a paid for consultation with your lawyer either by Zoom or face to face at our London office.

Consultation
At the consultation, your lawyer will provide a detailed assessment on settlement and eligibility. They will advise on chance of success and the best settlement route. They will explain the process, time scale, discuss documents required and arrange a plan of action/strategy with you. The advice you will receive will be targeted and will detail an in depth knowledge of any identified issues. The plan of action/strategy agreed on will ensure you have a high chance of the best possible outcome for you.

EA Law’s fixed fee for the one hour consultation (by Zoom or at the office) ranges from between £138 to £250 plus vat (no vat if you live abroad), depending on complexity. This fee will be deducted from our full fixed fee costs.
